Our last full day in the Yucatán Peninsula has been fantastic. Thankfully I was able to sleep on the (4 hour) van ride to the small beach town of Puerto Morelos (on the other coast) after waking up at 4:30 am to leave. Once we arrived we immediately got out of the van, changed into our bathing suits, and went snorkeling at the nearby reef. It was a rainy day but the water was warm and we were able to see a ton of fish.
Laura was sad we could not see the spectacular color of the water since the sky was overcast, but we all thought the view was breathtaking. While we snorkeled we saw a (huge) manta-ray, an entire schools of fish, a sea turtle, a sea cucumber and held a stingray. We finished up our group adventure with a buffet lunch at a local restaurant and walked around exploring the local shops in the rain.
In the evening we sat on the hotel deck and enjoyed the view of the rain pattering again the ocean while we chatted about our experience in Mexico.
For our last dinner together we enjoyed a spectacular meal at a Mexican-Indian Fusion restaurant. It was probably the best curry (fish) dish I have ever eaten and the perfect way to end a spectacular experience in the Yucatán Peninsula.
