Dareen Tower – West Bay, Doha
We love our new accommodations in the Diplomatic Area of West Bay, Doha. Ironically, we are located on the 26th floor of the building – the same floor as our Manazel Al Safa address in Dubai. This similarity made us immediately feel as if the apartment were ‘meant to be’ our next home.
Our building, the Dareen Tower, is well situated on Al Sham Street (Ad Dawhah) in an area that feels somewhat similar to Downtown Dubai (our former neighborhood in the UAE). We have a fantastic view of the futuristic skyline from our floor, and we are within walking distance to the City Center (an older Mall in Doha), plenty of hotels with great restaurants (making for a fun nightlife), and the beautiful Corniche (an area for walking/jogging/biking along the Doha Bay). There is also a gas/petrol station within steps from the building, alleviating stress about finding fuel in a city that isn’t known for convenient stations on every block.
West Bay is a newer area of town, still very much under construction with cranes teetering precariously around each corner and new ground being broken on almost a daily basis. This environment is not for everyone, but for me, this construction is exciting. It makes me wonder what might be here in one year, two years, or more. The idea of growth and possibilities is palpable, and I find it invigorating to be living within the heart of it all.
I don’t enjoy going over to City Center for groceries and have found myself exploring other stores in Doha to do my weekly shopping. There is a little shopping mart in the adjacent Tower (Ezdan Tower – 4th floor) if we need a few of the basics and a fresh fruits/veggies store located a block away. We are still learning about all the places in the neighborhood to eat, but happily the offerings are diverse and plentiful.
We still need to hang pictures on the wall and decorate bit more… but without further ado, here is our new digs:

I’ll make sure to add some shots of the pool and other rooms when I have a little more time – but hopefully this gives you a glimpse into our new life in Doha. Hugs and love from Qatar!
